FAQ

  1. Do you take commission from sellers or dealers? → No. We don't take commission from dealers or sellers. You pay us for our service, so our advice is based on whether we think the car is right for you, not on where the car comes from.

  2. What if you don't find anything suitable? → We'll keep searching until we find a car that meets your agreed requirements, at no extra charge. If the market isn't giving us anything suitable, we'll be honest about it rather than recommending a car we don't think is right for you.

  3. Do I have to buy the car myself? → Yes. You always buy the vehicle directly from the seller. We'll handle the research, seller contact and negotiation, and can coordinate an independent inspection if you'd like one. You'll make the final decision and complete the purchase directly with the seller.

  4. What if my Scout Report comes back WALK AWAY? → That's exactly what the report is there for. If we don't think the car is worth buying, we'll tell you why and explain what we'd look for instead. If you decide to move on to a Full Scout within 6 months, we'll credit the full £69 Scout Report fee towards it.

  5. How do I pay, and when? → For a Scout Report, payment is taken when you submit your enquiry. For a Full Scout, we'll review your requirements first. If we're a good fit, we'll send you a secure payment link and get started once payment is received.

  6. What areas do you cover? → We can source cars from anywhere in the UK. Most of the process can be handled remotely, so you don't need to be local to us. If an independent inspection is required, we'll help arrange one near the vehicle before you commit to buying.

  7. How long does a Full Scout usually take? → It depends on what you're looking for. Some searches can be completed quickly, while more specific requirements may take longer. We'll keep you updated throughout the search and won't recommend a car simply to get the job finished.

  8. What if I don't like any of the cars you find? → That's no problem at all, you don't have to buy anything we recommend. We'll use your feedback to refine the search and keep looking for cars that better match your requirements. We'd rather take longer to find the right car than pressure you into one you're not happy with. The Full Scout fee covers our time and work throughout the search, rather than the purchase of a particular vehicle.

  9. What if I want multiple cars checked? → No problem, send us a Scout Report for each one. And if more than one comes back WALK AWAY, those credits stack: the full combined amount is credited toward a single Full Scout, so nothing you've spent is ever wasted.

  10. Can you arrange an independent inspection? → Yes. If a car looks promising, we can help arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection near the vehicle. The inspection is carried out by an independent third party, not by Scout My Car, and is paid for separately by you. We'll help you understand the findings before you make the final decision.

  11. What happens if I decide not to buy? → That's completely your decision. There's never any pressure to buy a car we've found. The Full Scout fee covers the sourcing and buying service we provide, so it's still payable even if you ultimately decide not to purchase a vehicle.

Scout My Car is a used-car sourcing and buying-agent service operated by Samuel Gallant, trading as Scout My Car, a sole trader based in Suffolk, England ("we," "us," "our").2. Our Services
Scout Report (£69 founding price) — you send us a specific vehicle you've found; we review MOT history, mileage, known model issues, market pricing, and seller red flags, then give you an assessment: BUY, NEGOTIATE, or WALK AWAY.Full Scout (£449 founding price) — you give us your budget and requirements; we search nationwide, shortlist, investigate, negotiate with sellers, and arrange an independent inspection if requested. You complete the purchase yourself.We do not purchase, take possession of, or arrange collection/delivery of any vehicle.3. The Basis of Our Assessment
Our BUY/NEGOTIATE/WALK AWAY assessment is based on available records and market research — not a physical inspection. We always recommend an independent inspection before purchase, especially for higher-value vehicles (typically £150–£260, varying by vehicle and location).4. Fees & Payment
Fees are payable upfront via Stripe. Founding pricing applies to our first 10 customers only. Full Scout comes with our guarantee: we keep searching until we find your car, at no further charge. A Scout Report that comes back WALK AWAY is credited in full toward a Full Scout within 6 months.5. No Commission From Third Parties
We never accept commission or referral fees from sellers, dealers, or finance providers. We are paid only by you.6. Your Responsibilities
You're responsible for your own final purchase decision, financing, insurance, and the legal aspects of the purchase itself.7. Limitation of Liability
We exercise reasonable care and skill, but are not liable for issues that couldn't reasonably be identified from available records, or that only a physical inspection would catch. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud. As a sole trader, Samuel Gallant is personally responsible for the obligations of this business.8. Cancellation & Refunds
You have a statutory 14-day right to cancel, unless you've asked us to begin work immediately this acknowledgement is given at the point payment is taken — for Scout Report, when you submit your form; for Full Scout, when you complete payment via the link we send you. Scout Report fees are non-refundable once delivered (except the WALK AWAY credit). Full Scout: full refund within 48 hours if searching hasn't begun; non-refundable after, in line with our guarantee.9. Data Protection
